Mata Selections was created to share some of the most extraordinary food products from Spain with foodies in the U.S.
Founder Patrick Mata comes from an Andalusian family that produced world-class wines and Moscatel Raisins from Malaga, Spain. During that time Patrick’s family sold their handcrafted products throughout Spain and other countries including the U.S.
In 1999 Patrick Mata, together with his best friend Alberto Orte, started Olé & Obrigado, a niche import company of artisanal wines from Spain and Portugal. In 2020 their company was awarded “Importer of the Year” by Wine & Spirits Magazine.
Throughout decades of extensive travel throughout the Iberian peninsula in search of fine wine, Patrick also discovered many extraordinary food products that he added to his suitcase to share with friends and family at home in New Rochelle, NY. Over the years there was some particular interest in Patrick’s so-called “green gold” aka Finca La Torre Extra Virgin Olive Oil. In 2021 he officially decided to team up with the award-winning EVOO producer in the heart of Andalusia and started using some of the space in his wine containers to bring small amounts of Finca La Torre to the U.S.
Today, Mata Selections allows foodies in America to have access to their unique finishing oil through their U.S. based online shop as well as a selection of stores and restaurants in the country.
